Basic Info:
Beyrouth Cafe is a hole-in-the-wall dive on Lyndhurst Terrace that arguably serves the tastiest kebab in town. The chicken is bursting with lemon-garlic-y marinated flavor. The lettuce also tastes very fresh and the sweet pita bread perfectly rounds out the saltiness of the chicken. There's no decor to speak of here, just fluorescent lighting, some stools and a wall of mirrors. Behind the counter, the chefs mechanically serve up kebabs and other dishes like babganoush, hummous, falafel and curiously-lasagne. The other dishes are edible, but it's really the kebabs that steal the show- especially when you've been out drinking. Beyrouth Cafe is open till the wee hours of the morning and this is when the place is really hopping. Drunk clubbers descending down from Dragon-I, Drop and Homebase flood the narrow eaterie and it's such a scene. Unfortunately, the lighting is so stark, it's enough to knock the beer goggles right off of you. Oh, but when you've been out drinking, dancing and God know what else, that greasy kebab goes down like a relished last meal before getting sent to the electric chair. So there's a few roaches, at that time in the morning, who really cares?
